This last two nights has given us the joy of both boys parents evenings – Oliver’s was first and given he still in the Junior school, it was a WAY simpler affair with two appointments – one with his English and Maths tutor and one with his form Tutor.
They were handily right after each other so we were in and out in about 20 minutes.
It seems that he has beautifully turned a corner with his maths which is wonderful news and a great situation as Vicky has been working diligently with him on the subject and all of the pain involved in doing so is clearly working out 👌
Onto Elliot’s last night – an entirely different beast where you show up after 6pm and join queues to see his teachers – ie no appointments, just rock up and go.
We go in line and saw all but his geography and art tutors. Overall, Elliot is also impressing all with similar messages from each tutor – attentive in class, beginning to gain confidence and ask questions but needs to work on his written expressions. We have been working on this with his English with the help of his English tutor and this has paid off recently with his converting D grades for B very recently. As a result we hope that this success will bleed into the other subjects and help cement more success there also.
So we are delighted with the progress of both boys and look forward to more of it as we progress through this year
Well done Elliot and Oliver 💪
Shame Olly lost his new school blazer during the first week and thus had to have the backup old style one…
Last night we attended Elliot’s graduation from Silcoates Junior school.
Elliot and his class mates were treated to almost two hours of reminiscing over their last 6 years within the school with some lovely montages of photographs intertwined with little stories from Mr Boyer and of course presentation of awards for the children.
Their theme for the evening was the Oscars and so they were each introduced to the hall full of parents as they individually made their entrances. It was simply wonderful to see how mature they have all become and how they are all developing into wonderful people, each with their own fabulous personalities mixed with super senses of humour.
The awards were setup as film related, so either a specific film or an actor portraying a part in a film that sits in harmony with their personality and traits that they have developed individually while at the school. Elliot was introduced as the Tin Man as he has no rust on him but has a huge heart with nothing but kindness and good things to say about everything and everybody.
We are so incredibly proud of the young man he is so quickly becoming and while we are nervous that he is about to be joining the senior school, we are super excited for him as he embarks upon this next stage of his journey.
Today is Elliot’s first of a series of transition days in the Senior School to prepare him for his move into the big school from this September. Today he is not spending any time in the Junior School and is instead meeting his new form teacher and being introduced to all the goodness that the Senior School brings. It is likely that he will also be meeting some of the new pupils that will be joining the school from September as part of the 2018 Year 7 group – accordingly quite a large number of new intakes are in place this year.
Separately and perhaps more excitingly, Oliver is heading out to Waddow Hall in Lancashire for 2 nights away. He is going to be doing all sorts of cool things with his school friends such as archery, zip wire, orienteering and crate challenge. It will be super quiet in the house as Daddy is heading to London for two days so there will only be Mummy and Elliot in the house with the dogs for two nights…
This morning, Elliot went off on a school trip with his year 6 pals for three days to London Town.
They have an action packed few days on plan although travelling by coach, so will take a while to get there and back.
Olly claims he won’t miss Elliot but that has already happened – although obviously Olly won’t agree to that 🙂
We hope Elliot has a ball and enjoys his time away. He took a camera to record his memories…
Kinda quiet in the house tonight….
