Ever since Christmas Day evening Simon has been wittering about toothache and pains in the jaw. Vicky just thinks is is the usual pain in the ass but hey ho.
Anyway, 6 days on and the pain continues to drive into Simons head from what appears to be one particular tooth, although the pain only really arises when trying to chew on that particular tooth or drinking hot or cold beverages. At the same time he has congestion in his head from the coughing etc (that is getting boring too) and so the thinking being that the congestion could well be causing a swelling in his head that is conversely causing the referred tooth ache.
So, given it has been nearly a week since it started and watching;g him drink cautiously through a straw on the left hand side of his mouth, Simon headed to the dentist this morning to have it checked. It seems that the X-ray is inconclusive and as far as the filling in that particular tooth goes, it is good and not “leaking”. The options are as follows:
1) sit it out and hope that the congestion buggers off, taking the tooth ache with it
2) tooth extraction
3) root canal work
The dentist (thankfully) was not comfortable with options 2 and 3 as he could see no evidence that these were required but he also seemed disappointed to be able to make an accurate determination of what the issue was. So, the agreement was to leave it a week and see if it persists and in which case we re-review options 2 and 3.
So, on with the painkillers and the pain in the ass…..
We wish you all a super Christmas time and hope that the jolly fat guy delivered for you
We just got back from a weekend in Whinfell Forest (Penrith) where we endured cold, rain and difficult children. That’s right we found that we had swapped nice sunshine in Yorkshire for rain and cold in the north lakes – we were VERY lucky that Vicky thought to pop some rain coats in. At the time it didn’t feel to make sense, but my word was it a lucky move…
We sadly endured plenty of attitude from the boys this weekend – at times it felt that we are totally wasting our time and money on these two, who seemingly were annoyed with almost everything that we have done for them…. The electronic systems are clearly a big source of their frustration and it comes out as an addiction that when they are asked to leave them alone, it is as if we have taken away all sources of possible entertainment and that their lives are about to end 🙁
Clearly we have some challenges ahead that we need to work on together as it is only going to get worse if we allow it to continue.
Anyway, separately we decided to not go out on the electric boat on the lake on Sunday morning as 5e rain was quite heavy and the £20 seemed to be not worth all of us getting soaked. Oliver also decided at the last minute that he was not up for the Aerial Adventure which probably was the right decision – even Elliot (despite having done the same course 2-3 years ago) got super scared on the third (of four zipwires) and needed a LOT of coaching to move beyond it. Thankfully he did and overall felt good for completing the course – perhaps we won’t be doing such things for a while – he was most certainly frightened at 40ft up with a 50ft line to cross – it almost required him being wound down from the tree, but thankfully the instructor gave him a gentle push to help him on his way.
School starts next Monday so we need to figure a strategy for handling the damned technology issue – wish us luck 🙂

Sadly, poor Ronnie was involved in a minor (yet irritating) accident on the way home from school last Friday. She is presently sat at Guy Salmon Landrover in Wakefield awaiting the required repairs – bumper needs re-painting and re-aligning. It has sadly taken quite a lot of our collective time since the accident on Friday and while it is not huge damage, it is highly frustrating with the car only being 3 weeks old at the time of the collision – the young lady that drove into Ronnie also managed to strike a BMW X1 at the same time so has collectively had a significant accident unfortunately.
In slightly more pleasing news, Penny has had a long overdue valet today and the guy who came to do it has done a really good job – see a quick pic of the results below…
She looks sensational both inside and out. Hopefully she will stay this way for some time to come….
To all the mothers out there, we hope you enjoy a truly spoilt day and have fun.
Elliot, Oliver, Eddie and Hugo especially wish this for their mummy / Mum 😘😘 😍😍
