Mummy and the boys have enjoyed a busy few days this week already. Yesterday heading out to York Maze to the Halowe’en event and then today they have been out in search of Santa it seems 🙂
Daddy’s commute in the car is morning was…….
…… Wait for it…….
… 1 hour 45 minutes !!!!! Oh my.
He is staying in Reading to attempt to reduce accommodation costs – a very quick lesson in cash costs vs tiredness, frustration and happiness costs 🙂
Only two more mornings of this to go and the train is reset as the standard mode of commute operations 🙂
Fortunately daddy was scheduled to drive to London this morning as there has been a predicted storm for the last few days for this morning.
It transpires that the railway line at Peterborough is as far south as we can go from Yorkshire today (due to trees having fallen on the line and overhead power cables just south of there). As a result daddy would not have been getting to London today.
He was already taking the car so that was one issue averted – however once he got to Luton, the stop start traffic began. It continued that was pretty much the whole way into the office in Ealing – taking some 2.5 hours for that particular leg of the journey.
As a result it took just a smidge over 5 hours to make the drive and of course there are no chances to sleep (as there are on the train) so something tells us that daddy will be TIRED later 🙁
The traffic was so slow in fact, that daddy reports he was able to change in the car in the traffic on the M1 safely and in fact without the engine running – apparently nobody noticed his doing this but….
He is really pleased with it – so is Daddy 🙂
It has now increased in size and has TWO controllers so he can now control each track independently to each other 🙂
There is still more to be done (apparently) so there is going to be some track building work in the Christmas holidays – a goods yard is required for rolling stock storage :-s
Anyway, here is the current setup including his new railway platforms 🙂
Last night, Elliot, Oliver and Mummy were all waiting on the station platform for Daddy to get off the train 🙂
Thankfully, Daddy managed to book an earlier train so it was only 8pm when it got in (rather than 9pm last week), so the boys were not quite as tired.
Typically it is raining so much of the fun this weekend is going to have to be indoors, but we are set to make the most of it before 5am on Monday….
