Silcoates Junior Graduation 2018

Last night we attended Elliot’s graduation from Silcoates Junior school.

Elliot and his class mates were treated to almost two hours of reminiscing over their last 6 years within the school with some lovely montages of photographs intertwined with little stories from Mr Boyer and of course presentation of awards for the children.

Their theme for the evening was the Oscars and so they were each introduced to the hall full of parents as they individually made their entrances. It was simply wonderful to see how mature they have all become and how they are all developing into wonderful people, each with their own fabulous personalities mixed with super senses of humour.

The awards were setup as film related, so either a specific film or an actor portraying a part in a film that sits in harmony with their personality and traits that they have developed individually while at the school. Elliot was introduced as the Tin Man as he has no rust on him but has a huge heart with nothing but kindness and good things to say about everything and everybody.

We are so incredibly proud of the young man he is so quickly becoming and while we are nervous that he is about to be joining the senior school, we are super excited for him as he embarks upon this next stage of his journey.

Gas….

Yesterday we had a knock at the door – Northern Gas networks wanted to test the pressure of he Gas at our house. Funnily enough we have been experiencing gas pressure issues where he oven doesn’t cook particularly well or wailer in the year the Gas fire was bubbling away to itself.

We had put it down to the fact that the new houses were being built in Flockton and that it was negatively affecting our supply.

Anyway, turns out all of the houses in Kirkby Grange are experiencing the same and that it transpires there is water in the gas pipes somewhere near here.

The poor guys from Northern Gas Networks have now been working on it for the last 24 hours and still haven’t located the actual leak 🙁

The negative news is that we were switched off from around 9:30 pm last night so while we were able to shower this morning (still has hot water in the tank) we may be taking a cold one tomorrow 🙁

Hopefully they sort this out soon…

Refund

Only 7 or 8 weeks after starting a dispute with Land Rover regarding the full extended leather option pack on the new Velar (incorrect stitching on the dashboard), we finally have confirmation from Land Rover that they will provide a full refund on the option that we should claim from the dealership.

Clearly this is the right and only cause of action based on the fact that we bought from their collateral that showed a different dashboard from the one that was ultimately delivered to us.

We are thankful for the result but very disappointed for the way in which it has been handled.

Ronnie’s home

Two days after leave us for repairs, Ronnie is back all cleaned up. Rather incredibly somebody has managed to scratch part of the internals of the car….Thankfully V noticed it right away so a new part has been ordered…

The car needs to go back in the next week or so anyway, as it needs a software update to hopefully fix the phone system as it simply doesn’t work a large percentage of the time. Also, the rear panel above the lights needs replacing as the original is all cracked..

The hire car that we were given was a 30k mile Range Rover Sport HSE that was frankly in a shocking state – the driver seat looked like it had seen 130k, the interior was simply dirty and the exterior only had one panel that wasn’t scratched or dented. It was approximately 6months newer than Simon’s car and a great example of a car that you would never buy.

Let’s hope that we don’t need to get involved in this accident any longer and that the pain of it just goes away.

We are still awaiting information from Land Rover with regards to the miss-sold full extended leather option that we bought on the car. The stitching on the dashboard does not look anything like the sales material (and differs from all of the other leather in the car) and all we are getting thus far is “thanks for pointing out the error in the configurator” and “please consult the small print on the configurator as you will see that we will not be held liable for any information held within it”. Basically, we can change anything we like and that is tough…
